Trinity
Traditional Irish songs and dance tunes      Trinity is one of the oldest Celtic traditional musical ensembles in the Kansas City area. The group was origianally formed in the late 1980's and been performing locally and regionally ever since it's founding. Various members have passed through Trinity over it's long life, but the band owes it's success to it's strong Celtic roots.
Trinity has played to Irish and Scottish audiances at many festivals, concerts, wedding receptions and pubs. In addition the band has also for acts from Mitch Ryder to the Wolftones. The band has also appeared on KCPT channel 19, KCUR Public Radio and has been featured in the Kansas City Star. However, the members of Trinity love performing before a "live" audiance most of all.
Trinity's members include Bill Banks, Mike Chamberlin, Rebecca Pringle John Overton and Cathy Overton. Bill plays electric bass, mandolin, bouzouki and does vocals. Mike is Trinity's percussionist and plays bodron (a Celtic hand drum), electric drums and is the group's Seanachie (story teller). Rebecca (Becky) is our extaordinary fiddle player and also plays the mandolin and mandola. John Overton is the lead vocalist for Trinity and plays tenor banjo, cittern, acoustic and electric guitar. Cathy Overton is the ground of the group with her virtuosity on keyboard.
Over the years all the members of Trinity have studied and experimented with musical styles other than traditional Celtic format. We have developed arrangements which incorporate rock, jazz, classical and Latin musicwith the reels , jigs and songs of Ireland and Scottland. Trinity delights it's audiences with artistic and clever arrangements featuring elements of surprise but always remaininf faithful to it's love of Celtic music.
